  • I was told that Obama being all about abortion is slanderous and propaganda. Then was forwarded a website from the obama campaign saying so. Oh, ok...

Is there an independant website that is not run by a candidate or party that highlights the candidates records in a factual way?

To me, abortion is murder. No contest. You don't want babies now or ever, then don't get pregnant. I know it's easier said than done. I don't want to offend anyone else but golly. Late term abortions bring about viable fetuses. If I were to let a patient choke to death I'd be up craps creek without a paddle as far as legality goes. Why don't these babies deserve the same consideration? There are people that would adopt them. SIGH

I've been asked how I can back a candidate that is "a racist and against human rights for gays and minorities"  Well, that line there is a crock.  I can back someone that is against abortion.  To me, abortion is ending a life.  That's murder.

He's a Christian and not afraid to make it known.

These reasons maynot matter to a lot of people, but they are important to me.  Just as your reasons for picking your candidate are.

I'm not against Gay rights, that's where I definitely differ in my opinions with Huckabee. Especially since my sister, cousin and aunt were/are gay.  I attended with great joy my sisters wedding to  her partner.   I don't know of any other person, my husband included that I actually agree 100% with.  I think that is what makes the world an interesting place.  That there are other points of view.  That people are, at least in the United States, allowed to choose different people to vote for.

I've had more negative feedback and nasty remarks from Obama supporters than I have from anyother people.  How do you think you make your candidate appear to others when you are defensive, bitter and cliquish?  Not very appealing in my opinion.

I actually have nothing personal against Obama the person, I just cannot condone enabling more and more abortions or voting down laws that would protect viable fetuses that have been aborted.

  • Not sure it matters all that much, but I for one agree with you!

    hugs

  • I agree about abortion.  Not a big fan of Mr. Huckabee, but I'm not crazy about McCain either, LOL.

  • Hi, Weasle.  I have been scarce for a year or two.  Good to see you are still about.  Take care & I will check in more often.  MA

  • Well, here comes the opposing opinion, lol.  Not tryin' to stir up trouble, just presenting another view is all.  Anyway, on the whole, I'm not for abortions, but in some cases I can agree with why someone would have one done.  Read an article in a magazine back of this about a pregnant woman who found out during the pregnancy that the fetus had severe physical abnormalities...such as most of the brain & spinal cord were outside the body.  Think spina bifida of the worst possible kind.  This mother had to wrestle with her options...have the baby & endure the pain & heartache of caring for a baby that had no chance of normal development & no idea how long it would actually live......OR, have an abortion to keep a physical being from having to endure future tortures.  She chose abortion & honestly I'm with her on it.  I could not justify letting a fetus like that live because I believe it to be inhumane.  Is that wrong?  I can't say, that's for God to decide, not me and He may tell me someday my view of that is wrong.  But as long as I'm on this side of the ground I have to say that in some cases, yes I would justify abortion.  And yes, I will be voting for Obama in November because I believe he's a better candidate and while I don't agree with him on every issue, in my opinion he's the better of the 2.

Wow, that was long, wasn't it?

  • @silentbill1814 - This is what I'm looking for, intelligent discussion on this matter. Thank you for giving your input.  I wish more people could be as respectful about it.  I just don't want babies that when they are aborted are not held or looked after until they die.  The whole image of being put into a basin and left in the soiled utility room until they died broke my heart.  What are your views on that?  Do you think that they should be held until they expire?

  • I didn't comment on the abortion video because it's propoganda... not about abortion at all, but about attempting to drag Obama through the mud.  (Coming from a website called nohussien.org or whatever is a huge tip off!)  And just because it's on YouTube, doesn't mean it's true.

    All that being said...

I'm pro choice.  Do I want for women to have abortions?  No.  Not really.  In a perfect world, I'd be pro life.  Unfortunately, this is not a perfect world.  I work with too many kids who probably never should've been born.  And maybe it's not my place to say such things... but the fact remains that it's the truth.  When a child is grown in an enviornment that is so poisonous that they are premanently damaged by 9 or 10 yrs old?  What's the point?

In a perfect world, human beans would be responsible and there wouldn't be any "unplanned" pregnancies, no pregnancies from rape or incest, no physically/mentally fucked up babies... every baby born would be born to someone who cherised them and loved them and raised them to be good, decent people.

In a perfect world, those who tout adoption as being a viable alternative to abortion would actually practice what they preach instead of having 4, 6, 8, 15 biological children.  Instead, they would have a bio child or two and then adopt to fulfill the rest of their family desires.

    So.  That's me.    :)

  • You asked for an independent website that would give you an objective opinion of Obama's views on this issue. Try factcheck.org: http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/obama_and_infanticide.html

I'm sorry that some over-zealous Obama supporters have been nasty to you. I hope you don't think we're all like that. I am against abortion, but I am pro-choice...does that make sense? While my choice would be to NOT have an abortion (not likely at my age anyway LOL!), I would not take that choice away from another woman based on MY beliefs.

There are so many issues to consider when choosing a candidate. It bothers me when it seems to come down to two issues for some. If a person is against abortion and encouraging women to keep their babies, shouldn't they also be FOR those programs that help people so that women won't have an abortion for financial reasons?

  • @weasle3 - Well, once again I'll be honest.  I had no idea that took place.  I guess I always thought that life was terminated before they were taken from the womb.  I will say though that after reading your description, I am totally against that practice because to me, if an abortion must take place, then there should be no life signs outside the mother's body.  And I don't believe any human should have to die alone, especially not in the way you described.

  • @silentbill1814 - That's my main objection.  I know that there is going to be no way that once abortion has been made legal that it will be made illegal again.  Look at what happened to women before it was illegal,  as a nurse that raises my hackles too.

But as you said, "And I don't believe any human should have to die alone, especially not in the way you described."  You pretty much have to be heartless to just let a poor little deformed or not fetus just lay there squeaking and not want to at least hold them until they die.

  • @warweasel - I can totally understand where you're coming from.  I used to watch the kids in the neighborhood where my sister lived with her son.  They were pretty much ferrell children of drug addicts and prostitutes that had kids because they got a government check for each one.  A lot of these types of kids are the ones you end up meeting in your line of work.  The kind of kids that no amount of "therapy" or medication can honestly fix.  I have to say that I know people that go out of thier way to adopt kids that would have otherwise been aborted.  Those folks are out there.

I just can't bear the thought of, no matter how malformed or incompatible with life thier anatomy is, those aborted fetuses lying there in a basin or wrapped in soiled linen waiting to die alone.  That is what breaks my heart.

BTW, as soon as I saw the end credits with the webaddress I said, "Why did this have to be made by a group of extemists?"  >:(

  • not the same people spouting about adoption being an alternative to abortion.  It is a viable option... not disputing that fact at all.  Just saying that, in my experience, those who shout it the loudest are the least likely to be adopting.  I work with several of these people... former coworker, Mike, now has eight children and is only 27 yrs old.  I don't think he's planning on stopping any time soon... and he's one of those touting adoption.  I have no problem with his opinion, nor the fact that he has eight kids (he does take care of them)... it just seems hypocritical to me to have so many bio children when there are literally thousands of children that would love to have a family.  You know what I mean?

As for the video and the babies dying alone... it's apalling, for sure.  I think, however, it is probably less apalling and a less horrible way to go out than being sliced & diced into pieces and sucked outta your mother's womb... being injected with saline... and whatever foul ways they have to abort fetuses.  As I said, I am pro-choice (and that's a choice I'm so damned glad I'll never have to deal with!), but the facts are that abortion is pretty damned brutal... no matter how you slice it.  (No pun intended)

  • Argh!  The first half of my comment was eaten...    :(     (I'm too tired to write all that down again...)

  • Yep, you can vote for anyone. You can't elect anyone, but you can vote for anyone.
