  • Just a quick entry...

I thought that Palin did amazing in the debate last night.    She really took away a lot of the uneasiness I had about her, I was impressed with her focus and ready answers.  Biden left me feeling that he was pompous and self important.  That's just my opinion.

  • "McCain wiped the floor with Obama" headlines say...

...or not, lol.  Because I have nothing constructive to say about the debate or anything else related to that I'll post a quiz result.  Enjoy!

Your result for The Best Thing About You Test...

    Honesty

    Honesty is your greatest virtue.

Honesty is the human quality of communicating and acting truthfully. This includes listening, and any action in the human repertoire — as well as speaking. And you? You cannot tell a lie. Both loved ones and strangers should trust you, because you won't (1) lie, (2) lie via omission, or (3) sit there and let lies be told. (Can you even let a sleeping dog lie?) All 7 virtues are a part of you, but your honesty runs deepest.

Your biggest risk is hurting the feelings of your most sensitive friends. However, most appreciate you for your candor.

Honest famous person: George Washington, if you believe the propaganda.

Your raw relative scores follow. 0% is low, and 100% is perfect, nearly impossible. Note that I pitted the virtues against each other, so in some way these are relative scores. It's impossible to score high on all of them, and a low score on one is just relatively low compared to the other virtues.

So what do you think?  Is this true from what you know of me?

  • Blah. I'm getting a cold. My sinuses are aching and my nose is running. Other than that nothing is really new here.

Went to our church's Oktoberfest yesterday. We all had fun. They had great food and an awesome German band, The Adlers. I took some pictures of the festivities.  I need to edit and upload.  I guess I shouldn't grouse too much, it's not like I have to develop film and print them like I used to do long ago.   Chase won a little carp in a game and a giant teddy bear for playing darts.  He was pretty happy about that.  George even had a good time.  He's been such a little curmudgeon lately I was glad to see him having fun.

I also baked a cake for thier apple dessert table and made a basket for the basket raffle. It was filled with car care stuff. The cake was really good, if I do say so myself!

That's about it as far as happenings here, hoping to get a letter from Emma. I dreamt I did. Miss her like crazy.

Have a great day, be well and God bless!

  • a follow up to stupidity...

I just want to restate my opinion here.

I think that I was reacting to the thought of an aborted fetus being left to die alone in a soiled utility room. Even if it had no chance because of a horrendous birth defect, it should still be held.

I also want to restate, because I sounded beyond harsh the first time, I wish that women didn't get pregnant with 'unwanted' babies. But they do. It happens. I guess in my pollyanna world I wish there weren't situations that made unwanted babies.

In my case it would equate to someone wanting to make it illegal for anyone not in law enforcement or the military to have firearms. Just because a lot of folks don't want or use firearms they shouldn't be made illegal. Just because some people use them inappropriately, they shouldn't be made illegal.

  • Just life in general

We had a nice weekend here. I got caught up on stuff around the house, went and ran some farm errands. That was kinda fun because I got to do some physical work and it felt good to be more useful than normal.

Ernie is setting up a little garden area up by the sign we have at the top of the drive way with our name and house number on it. We have mums to put up there and I also have some bulbs to plant. It'll look nice now instead of kind of scrubby.

The boys helped out at the church breakfast being servers and washing dishes. I was told that they were actually helpful. lol. They must have been because if these folks can't say anything nice, they don't say anything at all. I had a proud moment then.

So, everyone have a nice day.

Be good to each other and remember it won't matter in a hundred years what happens today. HUGS!

  • I was told that Obama being all about abortion is slanderous and propaganda. Then was forwarded a website from the obama campaign saying so. Oh, ok...

Is there an independant website that is not run by a candidate or party that highlights the candidates records in a factual way?

To me, abortion is murder. No contest. You don't want babies now or ever, then don't get pregnant. I know it's easier said than done. I don't want to offend anyone else but golly. Late term abortions bring about viable fetuses. If I were to let a patient choke to death I'd be up craps creek without a paddle as far as legality goes. Why don't these babies deserve the same consideration? There are people that would adopt them. SIGH

I've been asked how I can back a candidate that is "a racist and against human rights for gays and minorities"  Well, that line there is a crock.  I can back someone that is against abortion.  To me, abortion is ending a life.  That's murder.

He's a Christian and not afraid to make it known.

These reasons maynot matter to a lot of people, but they are important to me.  Just as your reasons for picking your candidate are.

I'm not against Gay rights, that's where I definitely differ in my opinions with Huckabee. Especially since my sister, cousin and aunt were/are gay.  I attended with great joy my sisters wedding to  her partner.   I don't know of any other person, my husband included that I actually agree 100% with.  I think that is what makes the world an interesting place.  That there are other points of view.  That people are, at least in the United States, allowed to choose different people to vote for.

I've had more negative feedback and nasty remarks from Obama supporters than I have from anyother people.  How do you think you make your candidate appear to others when you are defensive, bitter and cliquish?  Not very appealing in my opinion.

I actually have nothing personal against Obama the person, I just cannot condone enabling more and more abortions or voting down laws that would protect viable fetuses that have been aborted.

  • I got a phone call today from Emma.  That part is great, but she said she will not be graduating with her platoon. She will graduate, but she has to leave a week early in order to make her AIT.  So there will be no family day.  There will be no watching my daughter graduate from Basic Training.  I at this point don't even know the next time I'll get to see her.  This makes me incredibly upset and sad.  I want to see my baby.

But she told me that she qualified as sharpshooter.  And she is doing really well other wise.  I just wish I could see her and hug her.  Boy this sucks.

  • Emma seems to be doing really well in Basic Training. She's almost done with her first month. Her letters are really interesting and descriptive regarding her activities. She made me laugh saying that she never thought that she would think of yoghurt, cough drops and granola bars as 'junk food', lol. She says that they get hot 'A' rations for most meals. It might vary on the weekends but the routine is pretty much the same.

Aside from having to get busted for stuff other soldiers have done, she is really liking the Army. They won a pugil fighting competition and earned a phone call and will have a streamer to put on their company banner that they will carry at graduation.

I cannot wait to see her!!
