  • A mysterious caterpillar!

While I was out walking the doggies this evening I spotted an unusual bug on the ground.  It was in the middle of our field, from some research I have determined that it is of the sphinx moth.

I don't know which one it is however and was wondering what sort of winged beauty it will be.  Thanks for any and all help!

  • Ernie and I decided that while he is working full time. I would go back to staying at home with FIL until we place him in the nursing home probably sometime after Christmas. He has benefits at this job and the one month of benefits my last job paid for will cover the gap until his kick in. Which is a incredible load off my mind! I'll probably go to work for an agency after his Dad is placed. Part-time, TYVM!!

We have gotten about 4 letters total from Emma, she sounds like she is loving what she is doing from what she has been writing. She says that all the stuff is 'awesome' or 'hardcore' but she just hates that all the girls fight and talk too much, lol. We got a 5 minute phone call from her on Sunday because they got rewarded for doing some sort of detail well. She asked me to send her Hall's cough drops. When I told her I missed her I could hear her cry a bit. I miss her soooooo much! *sigh*

I admit to being a little paranoid that they might 'smoke' her for writing if she is unhappy.

  • A forum entry from Aug 1st...

We got a postcard from Emma yesterday. She wrote it while she was in reception.  Among other things it said, "Ich bin nich tot"  lol  We got a call from her the day before that and we have her address now. Yay! She said she has her ACU's and dogtags. She's in Echo company. She says it's hot and she sweats all the time and hates it. She said rumor has it that they will get thier phones on the weekends. But last night I missed a call from her on my cell phone because I didn't hear it ring. No message though damn it! Today is her first day of Basic Training. I wonder how she did? sigh.

I'm hoping she gets to call us tommorow night like she did last week.  I'll be sure to get right on the extension so Ernie and I can both listen at the same time.

This is where I'm glad that we still have two kids at home to love on.

  • When I last spoke to her, before the current radio silence, she was pretty jazzed. She was on the bus headed for the base and was telling me about the people she was on the bus and plane with. She'd only known them for a few hours and she was already making friends. So unlike her Father and I. lol It's been so wierd washing and packing up her civilian clothing. She told me that she will more than likely not fit into any of it after she comes back, so I should put it in the Planet Earth bins. *sigh*

George has been busy as a beaver claiming his new room, lol.  Emma told him he could move into her penthouse while she's gone.  She had packed up some of her stuff into boxes, but a lot of the other extraneous stuff was still strewn about in Emma style.  I'm thinking this is one habit she will have to lose while in the military, lol.

Ernie has been transfixed with reading about the various phases of early training on the http://www.goarmy.com website.  Chase says he sorta misses her when I ask him.  I don't know if he misses getting called 'dumbass'.  lol

  • Actually Emma was held over in Washington overnight. They cancelled the flight because of the storms down that way. They finally got deplaned and into a hotel about midnight. Hopefully today will be better. Now I understand why the begin the trip to Basic so far ahead. She doesn't actually begin Basic training until Aug 1st.

She called and told me that she's on the bus headed for the base.  She's going to call me (probably one last time) and let me know if her phone got locked up yet.  Then I'll call and have the service temporarily suspended for a undetermined time.

  • Apparently Emma isn't shipping out today, there's a test they have to give her tommorow to make sure her ear drums won't bust during jump training. I don't know why they can't do it today, but she gets another day  at MEPS.

Her grand total weight loss is 45lbs though. I hope that they don't find anything wrong with her.

  • Yesterday I had the King Daddy of all migraines. Usually I just put up with them and go about my business. Yesterday I think that on top of that I came down with a 24 hr tummy bug.

The kids wanted to go see a movie and Emma wanted to drop some paperwork off at the recruiting office on our way to the mall. I made it driving as far as the office. Then my stomach began to tell me that it wasn't happy. Good thing that Emma's friend Emily was along and could drive us home. We rounded the corner and I immediately needed to urp. So after I was done, I noticed a very well dressed man walking quickly by and pretending not to have seen anything. It was a very silent ride home, lol.

I also am thankful that my daughter didn't take phone videos and put me on You-tube.  It's the little things you know...

  • written while on vacation...

Well, Ernie didn't get the job, but I'm still working for D. Unfortunately she's in the hospital again.   So I'm not getting paid this week.   They can't quite figure out what's going on with her. They know she's got an infection of some sort. But they think that there's the possibility of a blod clot. I have to talk to her daughter again and find out just what's up. I'm also in the process of becoming a paid medicaid provider.

But since she's in the hospital and the kids don't have school and Ernie's not working. I have the kids with me in Massachusetts.

We got up here on Sunday night. We are staying in a hotel as my Mom's house is small, has mice in the rooms that we would have been staying in and it's just easier for us in general. We got to go to the beach yesterday.

I expected to have to pay to park and to have to deal with a swarm of people. But we drove in and there was no one there. It was a bit over cast but the water was really warm for this time of year. I told the kids that this was engineered by God. We should have had to pay for parking, we didn't . The water should have been freezing, it wasn't. We were able to have the beach and the lifeguards to ourselves. It was soooo awesome!!

I got to see my Mom which I'm pretty happy about. She's doing pretty well for 85.   She's obviously forgetful and getting where she actually cares where we are.  lol

My nutty sister Virginia however, is as my brother and I say, beyond the help of alcohol or medication, lol. She's just impossible. But I still made sure to make contact with her so she knows that she still has family.

Anyways, I was just able to get on the hotel computer as I can't for the life of me figure out how to configure my laptop to coincide with thier WIFI for the life of me.

    Anyways. It's someone elses' turn.

    Love you guys!!
