  • Chase got a detention for fighting. He showed kids that asked to see his report card and they wouldn't give it back. Chase had to try to reach for it and pushed a kid to get at it. Then the kid fell and hit his head on the desk and the head hitting kid's friend knocked a desk over and threatened retaliation for his friend.

I'm thinking of a letter to the editor. It'll start with how pleased I am that Pleasant Valley school systems are so strict with their no tolerance policies in regards to classroom violence. And especially how proud of them I am for making my autistic son an example. I mean, He only gets teased to the point of tears and frustration on a semi-daily basis, he should with his disability be able to control his temper. I know that since autistic kids are so well known for their abilities to control their tempers that they should receive disciplines for getting teased relentlessly by ignorant and ill mannered classmates. I do believe this is the only way to show them how to behave. I think that the teachers and staff of PVSD are too over burdened and need not concern themselves with petty issues of mental and verbal abuse being heaped on their autistic students. They may as well get used to dealing with it. Since that's what "The real world" is all about!
