  • Just wanted to update on my Mom.  I saw her for my brother's surprise birthday party.  I actually went and picked her up at the nursing home and drove to the event.  She was doing so much better!  She didn't use the wheelchair and was fighting the idea of using her walker.  I told her that she had to at least use it to walk to the car, even if she held it up in the air and walked, lol.  Her breathing was WAY better!!  When she's with me though I have to be a water nazi and make her drink.  She does what a lot of nursing home residents do and hold off drinking water so they don't have to pee.  She said in the hospital that they took so long to get to her she was having a problem holding it.  But when the hospital only has ONE tech to umpteen patients that are going to need assistance and maybe 3 or 4 nurses then that's a problem.  So they get dehydrated.  It's a vicious cycle!  I'm going to try and go visit her today and make her drink the evil water.

The party for my brother was really nice.  It was at a tavern in New Jersey, great food!!  I also got to see relatives and friends I hadn't seen in years.  I got some pictures and will try to post some here.  I'm on my laptop now and it's got different photo editing software than my pc and I'm still figuring it out.

    Have a great day everyone!!

  • Glad your mom is doing better!  That's great.  Glad the party was good too.  Don't bars/taverns always have the best food???

  • Wonderful news on your mom! Glad you all were able to have a good time!

My mother in-law is in the hospital now, and they are talking nursing home. I don't think she will be coming home anymore, and that will probably just kill her. it's so hard, because she is only 77 and last year she was doing so much better. Thanks to circumstance, medical mishaps and a brother in-law that is an idiot (has power of attorney) she has done nothing but go down hill since her knee operation. I personally believe she had a stoke on the operating table, or shortly after that. I also believe she has had another recently.

I've been fighting with my brother in-law to get her the proper care for over a year. Telling him she had a stroke and all he kept saying was there was nothing wrong with her and she was doing things on purpose. What a freaken idiot!!

    Anyway sorry for the blog.

    Hugs

  • Glad you had a good day.

Someday, I'll actually learn how to use technology and post pictures and such!!!!

  • That is wonderful news. The whole water/pee thing, it is hard for the aged. My mom does realize how little she drinks. I am constantly the water nazi when I visit. How many times have I heard "Coffee has water in it." Shaking head....
