I'm ready to strangle Emma! Argh! She breaks up with the one loser and last night she brings home a guy from a local bowling alley arcade. He's 24. I told Ernie that she is not going there anymore and if she does one of us have to be there. Dang it she's spoiling for a butt kicking!
And her cell phone? That's going to be going into lock up. Apparently there is a lot of late night texting going on again. Good God give me strength!!!!!

Scholarship for Autism Spectrum Kids
http://www.rescuepost.com/rescue_post/2007/09/scholarship-for.html
This is a link to an article about scholarships for folks on the Autism Spectrum. Granted, my son is a few years away from being able to be eligible, but still affords me some peace of mind with regards to be able to afford his schooling. Even if he doesn't win one of these scholarships, I'm sure that with his hard work he will be eligible for another.

What's your favorite childhood memory?
I just answered this Featured Question, you can answer it too!
In a pathetic bow towards mediocrity (and a shameless effort to procure some readers
) I have decided to answer the question of the day.
My favorite childhood memory surrounds trips to my Grandmother's house for summer vacation. There we got to go to the beach and to the local amusement park. It had an old fashioned wooden, rickety rollercoaster! There was also a roller rink and candle pin bowling. Where I'm from it was usually duck pins. Either way I sucked, lol!
We also got to ride our bikes everywhere! Without getting in trouble for leaving our yard as we would have while at home with our Father present. My Mother would take us for 2 or 3 weeks on vacation without my Dad. He had made an ass out of himself at some point in the years prior to our births and he couldn't get over himself enough to come with us. Oh well, it was his loss!
The beach always always was my most favorite time. I can't imagine how my Mother took seven hellions with her to the beach and allowed us all to frolic in the atlantic. I would have had a nervous freaking breakdown, lol. But we had fun, got covered in salt water, sand and maybe some ketchup or mustard as well.

Her friend greeted her with a hug and a kiss on the forehead.
Another friend gave her a hug and greetings
He called her and she had forgotten just how much fun he is to talk to
Her son made her most favorite breakfast for her
All of them made cards from blank paper and crayons
She got to read the paper first
People stood up and sang to her
Today there were cards, they made her smile
Later a trip to One Fish, Two Fish to pick one out
She hasn't felt this good in a while
It's a good thing too, cause yesterday she turned as old as the hills...

Some of you know that my son George made the cover of a recent edition of our local newspaper. It's that time of year again, the local fair. I volunteered on Monday and Tuesday at our church's food stand as a cashier. It was a nice chance to see people I hadn't seen all summer and to get a chance to just watch life go by.
I remember as a kid those late summer experiences, to be able to get to go to the fairs. I remember relishing those last 'free' days of summer. Hooking up with friends meant something entirely different then. Being free to meet and roam. Feeling like real people, being able to go and do as we wished. Even just for a few hours a day. Not like it was during the rest of the year. Having to do whatever you were told to do, being treated like cattle. All sorts of prejudice being levied on you. Just for being a kid.
I am near the end of a week long vacation from work. I am at that phase of being off where I have gotten into a rhytm of my own. Doing laundry, dishes and general cleaning and still having time to go and do as I wish. Just for the price of bringing my FIL with me for the ride. It's been such a peaceful and unstressed week. I go back to work on the 3rd. Then it's back to being the trained pony again. I want to feel like a real person that's valued at work again.
