Gee whiz I've been quiet here.
Well, things on the dear daughter front are settling down. She's keeping her nose clean and dealing with being limited in her choices of entertainment. She turns 17 soon! Wow. And it helps that I'll have that week off from work. whee!!
Tommorow Chase will turn 14! I'll post then and now pictures if I get a chance tommorow. He HAS to shave daily, his beard is nearly as heavy as my husbands, lol. But then again my Dad had a beard that I could brush my hair with at the end of the day. I remember doing that when I was about seven or so. lol
There was an electrical fire where I work (on my weekend off so don't start pointing fingers, lol) that required ALL of the residents to be evacuated to other nursing homes and local hospitals. I read about it the next day on the front page of our local paper. Yikes! I went in early to help with settling people back in and doing support stuff. Holy Moly.
On that same day my Mother had to be taken to the hospital because she had fallen a couple days before and didn't get herself checked and decided that since at that point she wasn't able to even move she might want to kinda get checked out. Have I mentioned my Mom is well, stubborn? Turns out that she had double pneumonia, atrial fibrillation and a compression fracture of one of her lumbar vertabrae. I went to visit her in the hospital on my day off, since I hadn't gotten to with work and all. When I get there she tells me that she is going to be transferred to a local nursing home. I was like What? She said that she was told that she'll be needing some PT. Gosh. She's going to be turning 85 next month. I stayed with her until the transport came at about five-thirty (seventeen-thirty to us medical folks, lol) I then drove over with her to the nursing home and helped her get settled in. I'm glad I was there. I called my brother and said that she was there. He knew she was going before I did, but was needing to grab some grub and then head to her house to get some personal stuff and clothing for her. I stayed until about seven. I was punchy at that point, lol, I had worked the night before and hadn't had a nap yet. I did get a shower so I was good to go. We really don't know how long she's going to be there, but knowing her, probably not the entire 100 medicare stay days. When she heard that medicare covers 100 days she was like I hope to hell I'm not here that long! I love my Mommy. heh. I do feel bad for her because there are from what I saw a lot of typical nursing home residents there. Her roomate is a post cva with unilateral loss of movement. Her daughters found out I'm a nurse and immediatly begin asking me if thier Mom was going to recover and I said each person is different. but to myself I said uh, no.
Ugh.
On the drive down to the hospital I was listening to college radio and they played a song by Ben Folds Five, it's my new favorite song. I love it, especially since I know a few people that it fits to a tee.
It's called Kate. Give it a listen and see if it doesn't make you smile.
Also I'm supposed to writing a sermon now, but I need some ideas regarding imagery and such. The passages are:
Haggai 1:15b - 2:9
Psalm 145:1-5, 17-21
Luke 20:27-38
If you can think of anything, I appreciate, I'm going to continue on it. Wish me luck! I don't know why I volunteer for this stuff, lol.
